Skin trouble often starts in the blood, says Ayurveda. Sarsanil works from the inside out.

100 mL: ₹75 · 200 mL: ₹140

Sarsanil is an Ayurvedic Raktashodhaka — a blood purifier — distilled from thirty-one herbs: Anantmool (Indian sarsaparilla), Sarpunkha, Bhringraj, colocynth root, camel thorn, Triphala, neem, Vijaysar, Babool and Shisham barks, henna, Gorakhmundi, red sandalwood, vetiver, rose, Manjishtha, China root and more.

Its Hindi गुणधर्म calls it an excellent blood purifier for blood and skin complaints: ringworm, eczema, boils and pimples, itching and Sheetapitta (hives).

Used for

  • Blood purifier (Raktashodhaka)
  • Boils & pimples
  • Itching, eczema & ringworm
  • Hives (Sheetapitta)

Why skin breaks out

Boils, pimples, itching, eczema and fungal rashes have different causes — bacteria, fungi, allergy, a disturbed skin barrier, hormones — but they often flare together with poor digestion, constipation, heat and stress.

Ayurveda sees most chronic skin disease (Kushtha, Kandu, Pitika) as Rakta-dushti — 'spoiled blood' — when aggravated Pitta and Ama from weak digestion and wrong diet circulate in the blood and lodge in the skin. Bitter, cooling blood purifiers (Raktashodhaka) with gentle purgation are the classical treatment.

Sarsanil purifies in 3 ways

  • Blood Purifier (Raktashodhaka) — Anantmool, Manjishtha, Gorakhmundi and China root are Ayurveda's classic blood purifiers, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant in experimental studies.
  • Antimicrobial & Soothing (Kushthaghna, Kandughna) — Neem's limonoids, henna's lawsone and Babool's tannins are antibacterial and antifungal in experimental studies, while red sandalwood, vetiver and rose cool and calm the skin.
  • Liver & Bowel Cleansing (Virechana) — Sarpunkha and Bhringraj support the liver, and senna, colocynth root and Triphala clear the bowel — in Ayurveda, cleansing the gut is the first step in clearing the skin.

Key ingredients

  • Anantmool (Indian sarsaparilla) (Hemidesmus indicus, root) — 200 mg. Ayurveda's classic Raktashodhaka for skin, urine and fever. Its root carries 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde and saponins, with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial and hepatoprotective activity in experimental studies.
  • Sarpunkha (Tephrosia purpurea, whole plant) — 200 mg. Traditionally used for an enlarged liver and spleen and in Ayurvedic liver preparations. Its flavonoids (quercetin, rutin) and triterpenoids are antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, and its extract lessened arsenic-induced liver damage in rats.
  • Bhringraj (Eclipta prostrata, leaf) — 200 mg. Best known for hair, Bhringraj is also a classic liver herb (Yakrituttejaka). Its coumestans, such as wedelolactone, are hepatoprotective in experimental models, and in an early study its alcoholic extract protected against chemical (CCl₄) liver damage.
  • Indrayan (Colocynth) (Citrullus colocynthis, root) — 200 mg. Bitter apple, one of the strongest purgatives in traditional medicine. Its cucurbitacins are cathartic and anti-inflammatory and it lowers blood glucose in experimental studies; overdose causes severe, bloody diarrhoea.
  • Neem (Azadirachta indica, leaf) — 200 mg. Ayurveda's great bitter for skin disease and Rakta-dushti. Neem's limonoids (nimbin, nimbidin, azadirachtin) are antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory in experimental studies.
  • Manjishtha (Majeeth) (Rubia cordifolia, stem) — 25 mg. Ayurveda's foremost Raktashodhaka for the skin and urinary tract. Its anthraquinones (purpurin, rubiadin) and naphthoquinones are anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial in experimental studies, and it is used to prevent stone formation.
  • Mundi (Gorakhmundi) (Sphaeranthus indicus, whole plant) — 100 mg. East Indian globe thistle, a classic Ayurvedic blood purifier for skin disease and swollen glands. A review describes anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, hepatoprotective and wound-healing activity in experimental studies.
  • Chopchini (China root) (Smilax china, tuberous root) — 25 mg. China root, a Unani and Ayurvedic blood purifier for skin disease and joint pain. Its flavonoids and saponins are anti-inflammatory and antioxidant in experimental studies.
  • Rakta chandan (Red sandalwood) (Pterocarpus santalinus, heartwood) — 50 mg. Red sandalwood, cooling and Pitta-pacifying, used inside and out for burning, inflammation and skin complaints. Its santalins and isoflavonoids are anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antidiabetic in experimental studies.
  • Mehendi (Henna) (Lawsonia inermis, leaf) — 100 mg. Henna leaf, cooling in Ayurveda and used for skin and burning. Its naphthoquinone lawsone and flavonoids are antimicrobial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory in experimental studies.
